At 22:17 BST+1, GameZotto (Operations Director) confirmed that the signaller background checks are to be completed within the next 2 hours.
This marks another huge leap from the previous update that we received a few days ago – and with this we also got to know a bit more about the process of the background checks withing SCR.
What are the background checks for?
GameZotto also confirmed the process of background checks. Whilst most people believe that the background checks consist of internet checks, we found what they’re really about.
Here, we can see that GameZotto clearly says that the background checks mainly focus on:
- Users being ranked as a Guard
- Users having no severe moderation history within SCR
This doesn’t clarify exactly everything that they’re searching for- as GameZotto says “Mainly”, implying that other things are also taken into consideration.
The background checks aim to make sure that the correct people get into these roles, and that lying on the applications gets caught. This is a crucial part of the application process, so even if it takes them longer than 2 hours, it is worth it for all of our sakes.
How much longer will this take?
As we have only the same amount of information as everyone else in the SCR community, we can’t say for sure, however we can make some educated predictions.
From GameZotto’s Discord status, we can see that there really aren’t many people left to go over! All that’s left is to do the staff training after this, which leaves us with an ambiguous time frame as we don’t know what this contains.
Conclusion
Personally, my guess of 1 month is staying the same until we get the results. It feels good to finally see progress being made on these applications after such a long break! Once again, to everyone who has applied, best of luck from me and the SCR collection team!
