Earlier today at 12:23, supervisor @xotic_390 announced the winners of the “Flying into Summer with Stepford Express” ad competition. In doing so however, he broke a rule that was heavily implied to be strictly enforced by the hosts. In this article we’ll explore what could have lead to this decision, if it was the correct thing to do, and how this will impact future ad events in the community.
What was the rule?
On the 9th of June 2026, 3 days after the ad event was announced, @xotic_390 made it very clear that copyrighted audios were not allowed in the event. This was made out to be a rule that would be strictly followed, as seen from prior questioning regarding it.

How was it violated?
@Doges_RBLX ended the competition in a solid 3rd place, on the podium. However, their ad contained the song “3 Stripes”, owned by recording label Atlantic Recording Corporation. They did not provide any evidence of having rights to this audio, meaning that this entry, following the events rules, would not be eligible for entry.
The rule was not mentioned at all during the announcement of the winners, so it was either overlooked or the hosts knowingly defied it.

What does this mean for future ad events?
This event was received the lowest submission count out of all of the ad events in SCR, coming in at a shocking six entries only! This follows an overall downwards trend in entries for the ad events overall, so this was fairly expected, however there is no doubt that this was affected by the controversial rule.

I think it is safe to say that the supervisors will reconsider their choices about copyrighted audios for the next ad event, that being if there will be one. This event saw such a decline in entries, that it didn’t even match the trend in decline, as seen in the graph.
The best result from this would be future ad events allowing all media usage from the internet, as long as it is being used correctly and in line with other event rules.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the hosts either did not carry out correct copyright checks on the entries, or they ignored their own rules. Either way, the event rules were not enforced correctly.
On a lighter note, the ads that were selected to win were all great! Congratulations from me and everyone else on the team. The rules surrounding the event do not diminish the skill it took to create these ads.
