The fourth video ad event in the SCR Official Discord has officially ended yesterday, but the submission count turned out to be underwhelming…
The “Flying into Summer with Stepford Express” event was announced by Supervisor @xotic_390 on the 6th of June 2026, running for 3 weeks (21 days!), to the 27th of June 2026, giving participants plenty of time to plan, record, edit, and send their submissions.
66 people reacted to this event, acknowledging its existence. Surely this would mean that at least a quarter of them would participate, right? Ad events always tend to be popular with the community due to the creative freedom given in them. (Foreshadowing)
Unfortunately, this event only received 6 submissions over the course of 3 whole weeks. In this article we explore why this happened, what will happen, and at some key errors that the event’s host has done that have lead to this small entry pool.

Has it always been like this?
There have been 4 video ad events in total, and all of them received more submissions than this one. Here are the statistics:

#SCRExpressAd
- Date: 1st December 2025
- Submissions: 30
- Top Prize: 3,500 points
- Winner: @Cazot

#MetroAd2.3
- Date: 11th January 2026
- Submissions: 23
- Top Prize: 2,500 points
- Winner: @SimpleXtra25

#WaterlineSummer2026
- Date: 4th April 2026
- Submissions: 16
- Top Prize: 2,500 points
- Winner: @Infinitkx
And finally, the current one. It only received 6 submissions! The winners have not been announced yet, but I think it’s safe to say that we won’t have to wait long for this one.
Why did this one get so little submissions?
It is hard to pinpoint the cause for the downwards trend of submissions in general, however we can see some key differences in this event that might have affected submission rates.
@xotic_390 decided to announce that copyrighted audios were not allowed in the event, 3 days into the event, something that no other ad event has done.
This was incredibly demotivating to lots of participants, as when you edit around a specific track, having to have to swap the song means essentially restarting from scratch. Many participants dropped out after this change.

They tried to mitigate the damage caused by the rule by allowing purchased soundtracks, however the chances of someone specifically buying a subscription for licensed audio for a train game event were slim, and this was reflected through the results.
So, what now?
Well, the event seems to be continuing as normal despite the low entry count, which was expected. The supervisors are currently voting on their favorite, and the result will be announced as normal.
With the help of the SCR News team, we have individually checked every submission to verify that they aren’t using copyrighted audio, and what we found out was shocking.

Out of the only 6 submissions, 3 of them did not have permission to use the audio. That means, that if the supervisors and event hosts follow their own rules, only 3 submissions could be featured in the whole event, basically meaning that everyone who did not break the rules got onto the podium.
Do you think that the hosts will follow their own rules? Only time will tell. Enjoy the rest of your day, good luck if your participated, and best wishes to everyone else from the SCR News team!
